Custom Faux Finishes
Wood-graining, marbling, tromp’oile (fool the eye) and distressing/antiquing are each examples of a true faux finish. This means that they are handpainted and appear to look like something that they are not.
A new residential door appears to be cracked and old in the bottom left example below. The 2 handpainted stencil designs border woodgrained floors to create an aged and elegant look, and the top left photo is a wood-grained mantle at Rabbi Loeb’s house.
