This project was a blast for me! It took about 3 full days start to finish. This mantle came from a Federal Hill rowhome here in Baltimore and was pretty badly mangled with scratches and worn spots when we first met. The top was about 90% gone. I found such a thrill trying to channel the origional artistans technique, the complexity of the veining and the intricate colors used really fun to mimic and bring back to life.

….SO the removal and repair of the fluted accents were a huge start. Then the robins egg blue Ben Moore enamel was a great start to modernize this dated mantle;to belong in this hip and modern water front space we had a lot to consider.Next i antiqued and took a design from a piece of wall art already installed by the
client.Created a stencil then accented it with darker browns and the hue of the blue.Waalaa! It now works in the environment and with the clients individual style.
